Professional Mini Golf

I know what your thinking, there's pro mini golf, really?! Yes, there is. Not to brag on myself but sometimes you just have to be happy for something you have accomplished.

For the past two years I have been working, practicing to qualify for a professional tournament. Playing two to three times a week, endless rounds, putting, re-putting, then putting again, figuring out what I need to do to get better. Finally my work has paid off. Two weekends ago at our local Mini-Golf facility, (Outdoor Family Fun Center) I won the qualifier tournament to attend the Harris Cup Mini Golf Championship in Turnersville, New Jersey. So what does that mean you may ask? It means next month on September 27th I will be playing against pro putters from all over the world for the Harris Cup Trophy and hopefully $3,500. I know, it's not exactly as much as Tiger Woods gets when he wins a tourney, but, you gotta start somewhere. Besides, I won $200 and a free nights stay in New Jersey, not to mention a wicked cool t-shirt.

I have mentioned this event to a few people and some have even laughed directly in my face. They're not bringing me down though. Once you realize that the Cleveland Indians are not going to call you to play left field you have to start looking at other options. Mini Golf is my option. Who knows how far it will go or how far I will pursue it, but for the foreseeable future I will be playing pro mini golf.

As far as I know this will be covered on the golf channel. I will let everyone know when. I'm sure it will be 3a.m on a Tuesday but you never know.

Oh, for all you camp folks, this doesn't mean I'm playing everyone at PBC for canteen bucks.

The Needs Game, Volume 2

For those of you not familiar with this, Google your name and "needs" and see what the internet says you need.

1. Danny needs a dollar. (I can't argue with that.)
2. Danny needs to stop talking to the press. (What can I do? Their at my door everymorning)
3. Danny needs a closer relationship with God. (Amen!)
4. Danny needs to comeback. (I didn't know I went anywhere, sorry.)
5. Danny needs his routine to be consistent.
6. Danny needs a dozer. (Yeah!!)
7. Danny needs to take a humble pie pill. (I'll ask Morgan about that medication)
8. Danny needs to get back with Mary. (I don't think so!)
9. Danny needs to report what happened. (I would, I'm just not sure of the details.)
10.Danny needs a poke in the eye. (Not so much)

I like this game, try it and see what the internet says you need. Have a nice day.

The Right Tool For The Right Job.

I got this off of Foxnews.com but it's just to funny. What did she think would happen to the mouse if she hit it with a .44 magnum? I know people who are scared of mice but this takes the cake.

POTTER VALLEY, Calif. — A Mendocino County woman who was trying to kill mice in her trailer with a gun ended up shooting herself and another person.

The 43-year-old woman pulled out her .44-caliber Magnum revolver after she saw the mice scurrying across the floor of her trailer on Highway 20 in Potter Valley, sheriff's officials said.

But she accidentally dropped the gun, which went off as it struck the floor. The bullet went through the woman's kneecap, bounced off the keys sitting on the belt loop of a 42-year-old man in the trailer and grazed the man's groin before ending up in his coin pocket.

Authorities did not release the shooting victims' names.

The mice escaped the shooting unharmed.

Vacation Pics

Just thought I would post some pics of our post camp weekend vacation to Gatlinburg. There isn't a bigger tourist trap on the planet but I love it anyway. There is nothing better than sitting in a rocking chair watching the ducks float in the river or blowing an absurd amount of money on dinner. Enjoy.

Tonya Harding is just out of the picture.

My New Friends.

This didn't hurt as bad as you might think.

Ain't she pretty?

THANK YOU!!!

Just a quick thank you to all that worked at PBC. It truly was a super week. You all made my job as director go as smoothly as possible. It was obvious to me that God had his hand on everything at camp. We had perfect weather, the new things we tried like the hotdog lunch, dinner theater and registration in the upper room all seemed to go well. So I give a high five, hug or whatever you prefer to all staff and a few special thanks to some others who helped out.

Becky Brown - The BBP was fantastic, the music was awesome and moved me.

Tommy Brown - Where would I be without you? You keep my head straight and always seem to have a great answer to a problem. You are the man!

Stemy - Your a true servant. You have the most behind the scenes job and camp and pull it off with grace. Thank you.

Larry - The education materials were great, you tied the theme together even though in the beginning you weren't sure you could. Nothing but great comments. Also you have a fantastic hair cut.

DK - Dude, there aren't enough words.

Mike P. - Thank your for your help with the special assignment on Friday. You were a steady and experienced hand in a time of uncertainty and a true servant to our campers.

Curt - Quite frankly you did a great job letting me succeed and fail. I know it had to be hard to not be in charge for the first time in 15 years.

Mike Darling - You had big shoes to fill and you did a superb job. I know you were hurting early in the week but you fought a valiant fight. Worship was a joy to take part in.

Ted- I don't know if you were lying for my sake or if you were telling the truth, but thank you for the kind words. You make me smile.

To Brother Ben - Great job on games, dinner theater and fighting through a week of broken RV's and first time jitters.

Most of all, thank you God, without whom none of camp would be possible. I know that all of the work and planning our staff did was to his glory! God be praised!!!

I took some time off.

Ok, for the few people that actually check in on my blog, sorry. I took some time off as it got closer to camp. It seemed that every time I logged onto my computer there was 20 camp emails waiting on me. Priorities right? Anyway, now that camp has finished I will be back posting and hopefully next year learn to manage my time a little more.
